Welcome Basketballs Greatest Moments
This website contains important information and resources for teaching key-stage 3 basketball in line with the current National Curriculum (2014) guidelines for a physical education setting within schools. Resources include a scheme of work and a unit of work that will help support lesson plans and generate ideas for activities that will suit children with differing abilities. There is also access to information on disabled basketball and the basic knowledge required for playing and learning about the game, as well as links to key governing bodies, where additional information for further involvement is provided.

Learning Objectives
Pupils will develop techniques and learn new skills to improve their performance in basketball, as individuals and working as a part of a group. They will learn tactics and strategies for offensive and defensive play that can then be applied in direct competition to overcome opponents.

Pupils will aim to become an effective participator by learning how to apply a range of skills to competitive situations, through working collaboratively within a team.
Language and Literacy
Pupils will be presented with some items for learning through written and video formats with key terminology which will need to be read and understood to then be applied appropriately. Games will involve numeracy that requires either multiplication, addition or subtraction.
- Pupils will be able to know how to apply fundamental skills to competitive situations and have the confidence to physically use techniques learnt in game play.
- Pupils will be able to analyse performance of peers/ self and know the appropriate principles to improve effectiveness of performance.
- Pupils will be able to apply/know tactics or strategies to overcome opponents.
- Pupils will be able to work as an effective participator through team work and reflective learning.
